The structural solution for this 110,000 SF medical treatment facility was developed to fit the style and feel of traditional construction prevalent of The Villages. Concealing the massive IMRT vaults was an aesthetic as well as a structural challenge. The 3.5-foot thick concrete walls and 4-foot thick concrete ceilings and floor were concealed through the use of vaulted trusses spanning over the vaults and creating the complex roof lines. Due to weight and vibration, the vaults were designed as structurally isolated on mat foundations, with our specialty team performing the vibration analysis. Our solution allows for future horizontal expansion of the IMRT as well as the medical space.
