OUR CAPABILITIES

Solve

Beyond engineering consulting, SEP explores the “why” of our industry. This approach creates opportunity to provide our clients with specialized consulting for complex matters.

↓ Forensics and Investigation

SEP's approach to forensics is supported by our experience and the customized tools that we utilize to solve complex engineering problems. From accidental impacts to structural failure, our team provides comprehensive forensic engineering and analysis to determine path of failure and recommendations for restoration whenever possible.

Beyond analysis, SEP provides support to jurisdictions and governing agencies on building code improvements pursuant to a disaster.

If you require forensic assistance to investigate a natural disaster or an activated threat, whether deliberate or accidental, SEP is ready to take on the challenge. Please click here to send us the details of the assignment.

↓ Litigation Support

SEP's litigation support practice is connected in part to our forensic practice. Beyond solving complex problems associated with structural failures, SEP also provides litigation support for both residential and commercial construction defect claims.

Our clients are generally attorneys seeking an expert for their case, design or development firms seeking expertise from a third-party on a claim or pre-claim matter, or a private party seeking expertise on a construction-related matter.

Within the State of Florida, SEP is familiar with Florida Statute 558 and is able to provide support to developers or associations seeking engineering assistance related to construction defects and/or turnover.

SEP team members that are tasked with litigation support assignments are qualified by education, training, and experience specific to their area of expertise.

If you require an expert for your case, are seeking expertise on a pre-claim or claim, or need engineering assistance with your 558 process, we would like to hear from you. Please click here to contact us.

↓ Blast Consulting

SEP provides SDOF and MDOF analyses to blast response and couples this capability to support ATFP requirements in the government and energy sectors. SEP utilizes both customized and industry-standard technology to model blast waves under varying conditions and for an array of different materials. We are able to integrate our blast engineering as part of our design solutions or as a stand-alone service to government agencies and private clients seeking to enhance or improve the physical security of their assets.

See video below for a short demo of a blast performance analysis scenario for one of our projects.

↓ Peer Review

SEP provides third-party peer review services to owners, developers, contractors, and other engineering firms. Our peer review services are often combined with constructability and value engineering reviews in order to provide a comprehensive pre-construction evaluation of the project design for the client.

Our process for peer reviews is dependent on the client type and goal of the review. The review can be proactive, part of a jurisdictional or company policy requirement, or the result of an event during the design or construction process. In either case, SEP's approach is non-adversarial and our peer review reports are a useful tool to reduce project risk.

The extent of our review is determined by the client, although SEP will make a recommendation on the minimum scope of work required to yield an effective result. Our reviews range from a cursory scope of work, where a review of a particular portion of the project is desired, to a comprehensive scope of work that includes the project in its entirety with a review of drawings, specifications, and engineering models and computations.

SEP is able to review small and large-scale projects constructed of varying materials and low-rise and high-rise buildings of different uses and occupancies. Our experience includes post-tensioned concrete, precast, structural steel, and others.
